The Sanderson’s Long Bar

The Sanderson celebrated their tenth anniversary and our board member Daisy de Villeneuve, was invited to sit on the executive committee along with industry mainstays including Jasmine Guinness, Olivia Inge, Nicholas Kirkwood, Richard Mortimer and Todd Lynn. All were at the event, centered around The Sanderson’s Long Bar and outside space where Florence + the Machine performed.

A photo booth was set up for added fun and we played a little game called ‘have your photo taken with two of FBC’s board members.’

We started easy with fellow FBC member and vice president of international sales and business development at Diane von Furstenberg, Gabriella Piccinni and handbag designer Ethan Koh. We then got Brian Jones, senior vice president of sales for the Morgans Hotel Group to join us; then model/actress, Camilla Rutherford for a Charlie’s Angels-inspired session, complete with wind machine. We capped it off with an FBC board members only shoot. Daisy is wearing Diane von Furstenberg and I’m in Jasper Garvida, with bags by FBC’s, Rita Nazareno and her label, S.C. Vizcarra.

*Overdone trend of the evening: very high knotted hair, on both women and (long-haired) men.

FBC member Malika Bagai’s  Memsahib Princess Jacket is featured in Sunday Times Rich List 2010 worn by Lucy Asprey.  Memsahib is a mother-daughter team, Gita and Malika Bagai, they design manufacture and source hand worked pieces from India.

FBC member Britt Lintner is holding a spring/summer preview on Wednesday the 21st of April at the Morton Metropolis Gallery.

Doors open at 6:30pm, with a fashion show at 7:00.

FBC board member Daisy de Villeneuve nipped over to New York to join an old friend – Zac Posen – for his launch for Target. Daisy wore a long, flowing red dress and nabbed herself a cool, red leather jacket from from the collection. Who else was there? Daisy shared the VIP section with Alek Wek, Patricia Field, Coco Rocha, Claire Danes, Selma Blair and Maggie Gyllenhall.

Recognise is a new men’s and women’s socially aware lifestyle magazine. Their charge is to raise awareness and inform, and they had a lovely and completely packed party at Swarovski CRYSTALLIZED^TM – run by FBC member Stine Brogaard – to celebrate.

Two issues in and FBC member Shyla Hassan, the magazine’s fashion and celebrity director has some amazing people involved, saying, “More and more labels are becoming ethically aware. It’s not about being completely ecological, as this will take time and for most people it’s not realistic. But from a fashion point of view, we aim to expose every label that is moving toward being ethical in some shape or form. If every individual could do just one thing that made a difference and give back in some way, it would change the world. Hopefully we can inspire people to make that change however big or small!”

FBC members at the launch in support included Myra Nigris, one half of fashion label, HEMYCA and Amisha Ghadiali, jewellery designer and founder of Think Act Vote.

Giovanna Velasquez’s label Magenta 8, as well as Rita Nazareno’s S.C. Vizcarra were on exhibit throughout the night.

FBC members, Neely Reyes and Ian Warren of  Sapphires Model Management’s have opened a new office in Soho just opposite Shaftesbury Avenue’s Gielgud Theatre on Rupert Street.

Sapphires Model Management has worked with and provided models for some of the biggest names in the industry: Selfridges, House of Fraser, Uniqlo, Fashion Summit 2009, a project with Harvey Nichols, Dougray Scott, Billy Boyd, and Adam Garcia, and a selection of large publication houses.

Sapphires focuses on new concept of modeling agency, highlighting ethical business practices and high-level customer service.

Says Neely:”Sapphires decision to move to London is in line with the business’ current growth and the perfect way to promote expansion.  Although we have had a presence in London for about a year, we feel now is the right time to make the move in full and we’re really excited about the new opportunities that being in the fashion capital of the world will bring!”
